the puppy pack

Responsible breeders will always provide you with THE PUPPY PACK!  Think of it as Oprah’s Christmas special – YOU get a toy and YOU get a treat and YOU get…you get our point.  Our puppy packs come complete with the following:

  • The Puppy Blanket – This is one of the most important details in a puppy pack.  Puppies typically leave their mama and siblings between 8 – 10 weeks of age.  It’s a tough experience for everyone – the puppies, mom, the siblings - the breeders!  The Puppy Blanket is a baby receiving blanket (think tough material) we put into the puppy’s sleeping area for a few days to soak up the scent of your puppy’s litter.  You should have the blanket with you at all times for the first week or two while the puppy is transitioning into his or her new home.  There is no replacement for the smell of their littermates, and the blanket will bring your puppy untold amounts of comfort in times of high stress.  This is a standard staple and one that will help ease the transition to the puppy’s new home.

  • Collapsible water/food bowls – Concerned about how to lug around a 50 pound dog’s water and food bowls so you can travel long distances, go to the local doggie park, or visit a friend?  We include collapsible water/food bowls that never have to leave your car so that you’re never without a means to feed or water your puppy.  They are sized for adult larger breed puppies, so your puppy will need time to grow into them, but this will happen more quickly than you think!

  • Papers – All of our puppies come with pre-registration papers with The Goldendoodle Registry, the standard designer breed registry for Goldendoodles. This registry is run by The Goldendoodle Association of North America (GANA).

  • Vet Records – All of the puppies’ vet records will be included.  The vet records will provide information on the puppy’s deworming, puppy booster, microchip, the puppy check, and any other visits.

  • Puppy food – First things first, whatever puppy food you choose should NOT be grain free. Lack of grain in a puppy’s diet can cause heart problems later in life, please make sure your food has grain in it (or add grain if you accidentally purchase grain free). We provide ten days worth of our puppy food to use in transitioning to whatever puppy food you decide to provide your new puppy.  Puppies’ digestive systems are very sensitive.  You will wake up to a very miserable puppy and all kinds of unpleasantness if a puppy’s food is switched abruptly.  When transitioning to new food, you should start with only a tiny portion of the new food mixed in with the puppy’s old food.  You continue increasing the portions of the new food and decreasing the old until the puppy has successfully adjusted to the new food.

  • Toys – We introduce Kong toys at approximately 4-5 weeks of age.  Kong toys are made of ultra tough materials that most puppies and dogs find difficult to destroy.  We introduce a variety and then observe over the next month which toys the puppies seem to prefer.  The toy your puppy has chosen will come in its puppy pack along with a Kong Binkie – they are an excellent substitute for chewing on your fingers!

  • Treats – We are a big fan of Nylabones in our home. We’ve also introduced these adorable teething rings made by N-bone that even the adult doggies love.  You can’t lose when a toy is also a treat!
